New Rochelle Waterfront Parks
Free. This is not an organized event, but an informational notice for residents and visitors who may wish to view the tall ships from New Rochelle's waterfront parks.
Residents and visitors may have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of historic tall ships sailing west through Long Island Sound on their way to New York Harbor as part of the Sail4th 250 celebration honoring America's 250th anniversary.
If weather and sailing conditions cooperate, the best viewing opportunity from New Rochelle's shoreline parks is expected between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., with the greatest chance of seeing the ships around 10:00–11:00 a.m. Timing may vary based on wind, tides, and other sailing conditions.
Approximately 12–20 Class B tall ships, including traditional schooners, yawls, ketches, and gaff-rigged sloops, are expected to pass through Long Island Sound before joining the official Parade of Sail into New York Harbor.
This is not an official event and there are no organized activities. It is simply an opportunity to enjoy the passing fleet from New Rochelle's waterfront parks. Visitors are encouraged to check the live ship tracker before heading to the shoreline, as sailing times may change due to weather and tides.
