Description
Looking for something different to do with children, grandchildren or visitors?
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Westchester County Historical Society they are inviting everybody to take a summer tour of the county's historical sites (including a few in New Rochelle): Join in the fun and make your own family history this summer!
Sample over 300 years of Westchester history by visiting 1 to 3 family-friendly sites in over 30 communities around the county. Sites include the birthplace of the American Circus, a cemetery dating back to the Revolutionary War, a tavern that hosted General George Washington, two different balancing rocks, and many, many more!
All that is needed is the History Hunt mobile app. Register for the History Hunt mobile app by visiting westchesterhistory.com. The mobile app will guide you to each site where you will hear an audio description, see images, and be given a simple challenge, usually involving snapping a photo and easily uploading it onto the mobile app. The History Hunt will conclude on September 8, 2024.
Prizes will be presented in the fall to families or groups who complete the entire hunt and/or have highly creative entries. Gifts include complimentary tickets to family-friendly Westchester museums, restaurants and amusements.
